Setup picking totes

How does it work?

  • During picking from the Pikr picking app, pickers after being assigned orders to pick can quickly scan and assign a picking tote to their assigned orders.
  • This will allow for sorting during picking.
  • Easier hand off for packing.
  • Packers from Pack Stations will also be able to keep track of orders using the tote numbers.

Printing Tote Barcodes

If the provided barcode dimensions in Pikr do not suit, you can custom print barcodes using your own software with custom barcode dimensions and labels. Ensure that the barcode is:

  1. Barcode Format: Code-128
  2. Numbered correctly
  3. Label is relatively large in size (this will allow for quicker barcode scanning)

Create picking totes

  1. Click on Totes in the left sidebar menu.
  2. Select the warehouse.
  3. Click on +Add Totes in the top right.
  4. Choose the number of picking totes you will be using. Click Save.
  5. Print the barcodes and attach to each picking tote.
    1. If the provided dimensions are not suitable, you can create the barcodes using your own label software.
    2. Ensure the barcodes are numbered correctly.

Recommended workflow

  1. From the picking app, pickers will begin a pick.
  2. During the 1st step, pickers will select the number of orders they wish to pick for the current picking run.
    1. Click enable on the option to 'Enable Picking Totes'
  3. During the 2nd step, orders will be assigned to the picker.
  4. During the 3rd step, pickers will be able to assign picking totes.
    1. Click the 'Scan Barcodes' button
    2. 'Scan to Assign' 1 picking tote to 1 order.
  5. During the 4th step, pickers will pick and check off the order items.
  6. After every item is picked, pickers will head to a Pack Station.
  7. Pickers complete their picking run by transferring orders to a Pack Station.
  8. Repeat steps 2-7.
